Alumni Affiliations Cataloging Procedures

Project to add Stanford Law School alumni affiliation to publications in SearchWorks
updated January 24, 2017

When cataloging a new title, check to see if the author is a graduate from Stanford Law School. If so, determine the degree and year of graduation. Advanced degree graduates should have a thesis; an alumni directory is in Reference with older years in Law-Archives. Affix the SLS ALUM sticker to the spine of the title.

We will edit the access point for the author as follows in the example below (addition is highlighted in bold):

100 1 Cole, Daniel H.,|d1958-,|uStanford Law School graduate, J.S.D. (1996)

The same format should be used for additional access points in the 700 field.

After you have edited the access point, please search the catalog to see if we have additional publications by the same author, including theses. If so, please add the affiliation information to those titles as well. Many of the advanced degree students have more than one degree; use the highest degree for all titles. Add SLS ALUM  sticker to the spines of the titles you have identified.
