- This map was intended to be used with Frank Vanslager's write-up on Loma Prieta for the third revision of Birding At the Bottom Of the Bay (page 62). It shows where the upper and lower saddles are, where the county line is (at least as far as Streets and Trips is concerned), where the best viewing is from the lower saddle (Observation Point located atop the hill near where the power lines cross the road and where the "End Of Pavement" sign is) and where the Private Road is (best place to find Black-chinned & Sage Sparrows and Purple Martins). The Private Road is walked, NOT driven.
