Learning Space on Campus One of the most underutilized learning space on campus is...the parking lot. When a guest first enters a parking lot, they have to navigate around to make sure they are in the correct lot. Next, they have to be able to locate a space--and if none are available, there is no information provided as to the location of any other pay lots that they can park at.
Upon parking, an individual will either need to use the parking pay machine or insert coins into a parking meter. Theree is generally no information about the campus in the parking lot--guests do not have easy access to a map on site, nor do they know if an interesting landmark (ie. Memorial Church) is close by or much further away. There is no place for guests to pick up a flyer or map so they can navigate around campus.
Kristle: Wow Bonnie, you chose a really interesting learning space. I think that providing information about places close to the parking lot (eg. other parking lots and landmarks) is a wonderful indea. There are many times, when I've realized that I've been visiting a particular spot on campus without realizing that a landmark is straight through the bushes or otherwise close to me. It offers a unique opportunity for people to learn more about the geography of the campus by making connections between places as well as an opportunity to learn more about those spaces. It would be interesting if some kind of reasoning for the placement of certain landmarks was included.'
