Li Lei joined the CSDGC at Stanford University as a Visiting Scholar in March 2018 for a one-year visit to conduct research in environmental engineering, renewable energy and sustainable development.

As an Associate Professor and Director of the Xinjiang Affair Office, China Nuclear Engineering & Construction Group, he is in charge of all affairs in Xinjiang on behalf of CNEC such as public relations with local governments, development of green energy resources and investment in hydroelectric power stations.

Li received his PhD in Control Theory and Control Engineering from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2003. Then he served as a post-doctoral fellow in the Institute of Software, CAS specializing in Computer Science & Technology. After, he spent his second post-doctorate research at the Chinese Central Iron & Steel Research Institute studying metallurgical engineering in 2006.

In recent years, besides production, management and innovation of enterprises, Dr. Li has conducted research on the development and application of renewable energy such as wind power, solar energy, and nuclear energy, treatment of industrial & municipal waste and sewage, urban sustainable development, and smart cities.
