Selecting and refining research ideas related to
transfer
In selecting and refining research ideas, you'll want to evaluate and
select the most appropriate and productive topics to pursue. This "brainstorming"
activity may benefit from dialogue with other Investigators (I), the
Transfer Officer (T), or the Center Director (D).
Some relevant questions follow. Filled in squares represent suggested
resources.

Resources |
- 1. Will the idea lead to an R&D effort that is appropriate
within the mission of the Center?
- 2. Will the idea lead to a project with a transferable outcome?
- 3. To implement this idea, should I interact with
- - informed colleagues inside the lab or outside the lab?
- - intermediate consumers, such as manufacturers or clinicians?
- - ultimate consumers, the end users of the product or process?
- 4. Is the idea worthy of base fund support? Consider feasibility
and appropriateness with respect to base fund activities.
- 5. What is the probability of achieving the desired outcome?
