The Fan Group engages in theoretical and computational research of photonic crystals, micro-photonic and nano-photonic
structures, and solid state devices more generally. Our
research also spans an array of other fields, including Plasmonics, Meta-materials, Quantum Optics and Computational Electromagnetics.
Our research group is led by
Professor Shanhui Fan. Specific topics of recent interest include:
Slow Light
Plasmonic Imaging
Single- and Two-Photon Transport Theory
High-Index Metamaterials
Group News:
05/27/09:
Researchers in the Fan group proposed a novel way of
creating on-chip optical isolators that was featured on
the cover of the February issue of Nature Photonics.
