Specialized Options: Call Forward Alert (CFA)

Overview

Call Forward Alert (CFA) lets you know when a single-line telephone is forwarded to another number or to voice mail. With this feature, you hear five pronounced beeps when lifting the receiver of a forwarded single-line set; if the phone is not forwarded, you hear normal dial tone.

How does CFA work?

Once CFA has been installed on a single-line set, it becomes active automatically whenever you forward the phone (i.e., by pressing *70). The alert lets you know the phone is forwarded by emitting one long pause and a short burst of beeps before the dial tone when you pick up the phone's receiver.

Note: CFA works with other available features. If you or members of your department have the voice mail Message Waiting feature via stutter dial tone, the CFA sound changes from a long pause and short bursts to 5 beeps, pause, 3 beeps plus Message Waiting stutter tone when you first pick up the receiver.

CFA only works for unique numbers. (not compatible to multi-appearance numbers)

Benefits

1. CFA reminds you that your phone is forwarded as soon as you pick up the receiver.
2. CFA helps prevent calls forwarded inadvertently to voice mail or another phone.

Keep in Mind: Because users can't dial out while the CFA alert is sounding (i.e., during the five beeps), they may find the feature impacts the way they use their phone. Some users may prefer not to have CFA for this reason.
