Cynthia Haven: A short biographical sketch

Cynthia Haven has written for The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Times Literary Supplement, and San Francisco Magazine. Her work has also appeared in The Kenyon Review, The Georgia Review, The Cortland Review, Civilization, and others. She was a 2007/08 Milena Jesenská Journalism Fellow with the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna. Peter Dale in Conversation with Cynthia Haven was published in London, 2005. Her Czeslaw Milosz: Conversations was published in 2006; Joseph Brodsky: Conversations in 2003; An invisible Rope: Portraits of Czestaw Mitosz is forthcoming with Ohio University Press / Swallow Press. Prior to joining the Stanford University News Service staff in 2007, she had been a regular contributor to Stanford Magazine for many years. As news director of Stanford’s School of Education, she coauthored two books on education. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
