Discus and Africus is a comic strip by Brian Kunde, originally serialized in six parts totalling 14 pages in the mimeographed school newspaper the McKinley Trojan during the 1972-73 school year at McKinley Junior High School (as it then was). The school mascot at that time was a Trojan warrior, and accordingly so was the strip’s protagonist.
The feature was intended to continue during the following school year, but I changed schools, so the remainder of the story was not then published. Since I continued to work on it during the summer it had been brought close to completion, even if it no longer had a venue for publication. Unwilling to leave the plot hanging, I concluded it over the next year or two for my own satisfaction (though the plot thread of the Ellock's search was left dangling). This continuation, consisting of a one-page recap of the published portion plus a six page conclusion to the tale, remained in my files in the form of raw art for many years.
With the advent of the internet I posted a page from the published portion of the strip as an art sample in my online gallery on 8/26/98, and later most of the remaining pages, previously published or not, on 2/22/12 and 2/23/12. The remaining two pages, missing at that time, were afterwards found and posted on 7/8/13, finally making the complete story available here from Fleabonnet Press.
