Spilt Ink: The Writers’ Group

“Writers are a scourge to those they cohabit with.
They are present and at the same time they are absent.”
—Edna O’Brien, writing on James Joyce.

Spilt Ink is an e-group of writers based in the south San Francisco Bay area. Formed in April, 1995 as a loose association meeting weekly in members’ homes and local restaurants, we came by degrees to conduct most of our functions electronically. These included critiques and editorial work on member writings and occasional writing exercises. Our goal, unchanged since the beginning, has been the sharing and supporting of each other’s work, and the improvement of it through constructive criticism and exposure to the writing of fellow members.
