Landolt-Börnstein Database: New Volumes Available Online

The Stanford Libraries have licensed electronic access to the multivolume Landolt-Börnstein book series. Landolt-Börnstein: Numerical Data and Functional Relationships in Science & Technology provides scientists and researchers with a rich compilation of selected property data from the published literature in a broad subject range:

  • Elementary Particles, Nuclei and Atoms
  • Molecules and Radicals
  • Condensed Matter
  • Physical Chemistry
  • Geophysics
  • Astronomy and Astrophysics
  • Biophysics
  • Advanced Materials and Technologies

The online indexes provide access through molecular formula (especially useful for organic compounds) or element system (especially for inorganic compounds). Also available are searches of chemical abstract registry number, some chemical names, zeolite compounds, and a free text keyword search. Some structure searching is also available. Begin by clicking on SciDex indices or navigate through the complete e-Catalog from the Landolt-Börnstein homepage.

The migration of this multivolume book series from print to electronic access began in 2000 with some 129 subvolumes of Landolt-Börnstein published before 1990 becoming electronically available. For 2008, over 350 subvolumes are available to search and view online.

The Landolt-Börnstein book series is also available through the Databases page on the Stanford Libraries’ Web site.
