BREEDING: Farmland, savanna, open woodland, usu near water. 2-3 broods.
DISPLAYS: ?
NEST: Adherent also under eaves, bridges, in wells; of grass, forbs, moss, plant fibers, lined with fine materials, esp hair.
EGGS: White, mostly unmarked, some (last laid) with small red spots. 0.8" (19 mm).
DIET: Almost exclusively insects. Regurgitates pellets.
CONSERVATION: Winters s to s Mexico. Rare cowbird host.
NOTES: Frequently seen hovering. Often feeds just above watersurface.
ESSAYS: Pellets; Passerines and Songbirds; Bills.
