National and International Influences
National and international factors are now influencing technology
transfer apart from the decisions that have previously been left to
investigators.
It is well known that many more devices are developed in laboratories
than are ever manufactured and used by rehabilitation consumers. In
recognizing a need for change in the way that Federal laboratories
approach R & D, two influences are important to discuss. They should
affect the way you think about the technology transfer process.
These influences are:
- the shift from "push" to "pull" in R & D
- the international scene
