I’m interested in understanding if uncleaved polyprotein precursors of SARS-CoV-2 may be toxic to other viral assemblies and essential functions in a cell. Additionally, I’m investigating the role of the lncRNA NeST in modulating the immune response of CD8+ T cells.

Many recently emerged viral diseases including Nipah, Marburg, SARS, and Ebola are hypothesized to have their origins in bats. I am interested in investigating innate immune mechanisms employed by bats to combat viral infection.
