Join us at Stanford University on September 6 - 8, 2013 to celebrate 50 years of amazing achievement at the Stanford Environmental & Water Studies (EWS) program. The Stanford Civil Engineering program has a long history in the environmental area but we can date the beginning of the EWS to the arrival of Perry McCarty and Bob Street’s appointment to the CE faculty in the early 1960’s. Together with Professors Joe Franzini, En Yun (Max) Hsu, Ray Linsley, and Rolf Eliassen they started to build the program that has provided environmental leadership and has meant so much to many of us.
We’ll start with a barbeque on Friday, have speakers and a banquet Saturday, and end with low key socializing Sunday morning (see Schedule). There will be time more informal, smaller scale activities—if you have ideas/suggestions, please let us know (Suggestions).
We’ve made a big effort to contact all our graduates and affiliates—but we’ve missed a fair number—especially as we go farther back in time and for those who were here only for the MS program or postdocs.—Please pass the word.
Hope to see you in September.
