Dr. Alfred M. Spormann is a Professor of Chemical Engineering and of Civil & Environmental Engineering (and of Biological Sciences, and of Geological and Environmental Sciences, by courtesy). He is also director of the Stanford
Biofilm Research Center.
Dr. Spormann and his laboratory study the molecular
interactions of microbes and microbial communities
in complex environments such as in biofilms.
