Using Consultation Hold on a Multi-line Phone

Consultation Hold allows you to place a call "on hold," use your phone to call another party to consult privately, and afterward, return to the original call.

Note: If you do not have a Transfer button, click here.

  1. Press: Transfer
You hear three beeps followed by dial tone and the call is placed "on hold." The diamond indicator next to the Transfer key goes out and the diamond indicator next to your DN flashes.

  2. Dial: phone number (of the person with whom you wish to consult)
After the party answers, you can consult privately (i.e., the original caller cannot hear you). When you are finished, let the party hang up and press the DN key to reconnect to the original call. The diamond indicator next to the Transfer key goes out and the diamond indicator next to the DN is solid. If you receive a busy signal or no answer, press Transfer twice to reconnect to the original call.
