JustinJustin D Smith

Postdoctoral Scholar

Justin obtained his Ph.D. in Genetics in the laboratory of Ron Davis at the Stanford Genome Technology Center. He focused on developing and characterizing CRISPR genome engineering technologies in yeast. He is now working on developing technologies for high throughput precision genome editing in yeast and improving the rate of homology directed repair at double strand breaks. These technologies are being deployed to map quantitative traits to individual genetic variants under a variety of growth conditions. Additionally, Justin is applying the inducible CRISPR interference technology developed during his Ph.D. to improving the production of natural products in yeast, as well as to investigate a number of other phenotypes.
