Ricardo Bion is a PhD student in the Psychology Department. His research explores how early experiences with objects and their names might impact children's success in learning new words. An additional aim is to evaluate how early word-learning skills relate to children's later language proficiency, developing measures that could help identify children at risk for language and cognitive deficits. His ultimate goal is to develop training protocols and teaching materials that can improve early word learning skills and foster vocabulary development in diverse groups of children. Ricardo was born in Brazil, and has worked in labs in Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Italy, and Japan.
