Ankur

Ankur is currently a college freshman attending UC Berkeley with a major in Molecular Cell and Biology and planning on minoring in Psychology. He has had a strong interest in research for many years and even participated in a cancer research project at a private research institution and was awarded 3rd place in the Alameda County Science Fair. Besides Ankur’s strong avid for learning, he has been a big fan of basketball and enjoys going to professional games such as the Golden State Warrior’s games. Other interests include chess in which he helped open up a Chess for Charity organization in which our club tried to promote interest among children about chess. Ankur has been interested in the psychology field and plans to pursue it for many years to come.

Zheng

Zheng is completing a Bachelor‘s degree in Psychology in China. She is interested in psychological approach to social intervention and is carrying on a program focusing on setting creative curriculum towards potential talents in science back in China. At ASPIRE, she continued to further her interest and develop practical skills in research which can be applied in a real-world background.

Raphael

Raphael is an intern with the ASPIRE lab, currently pursuing his Masters degree in Psychology at the prestigious Ruhr-Universität in Germany. His concentration is in positive psychology, and he is particularly fascinated by how optimism and affirmative-oriented mindfulness and mindful practices can lead to drastic long-term effects on people’s behavior and cognitive broadening. When not engulfed in the restless pursuit of psychological knowledge, he can be seen biking around Stanford campus sporting an impeccable black fedora.

Chana

Chana is completing a Master’s degree in Social Psychology at SFSU where she works in the Social Interaction Lab with Dr. Seung Yoo. Her thesis focuses on applying the self- compassion construct as a brief, online intervention for stereotype threat. Before joining the lab, Chana obtained research experience working on attachment theory with Dr. Carol George’s at Mills College, where she was an honor’s student, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She earned an MPA from USC, then developed and directed programs for dual-diagnosis, long-term homeless, inmates, and others with multiple barriers to success, fueling an interest in the principles underlying human behavior change processes. At ASPIRE, she continues to apply her interest in theory building around brief, socio-psychological interventions.

Vanessa Jade

Vanessa Jade was born and raised in La Honda, California. She has studied fashion design, Italian language, welding, and is currently getting her Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of New Orleans. Her psychological interests include social psychology, cognitive dissonance, and personal responsibility.

Nikita Shirsat

Nikita is a high school student who will be a Senior this fall at Homestead High School. As a member of her school’s Science Olympiad and Science Bowl team (which reached the States and Nationals level respectively this year), she avidly reads about topics in biology. While studying the nervous system and areas of neuroscience, she has developed an interest in psychology. Outside of science, Nikita can be found dancing 24/7 and enjoys taking a part of the various other clubs and activities in her school.

Manpreet

Manpreet graduated with a Masters in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Punjab University, India and has helped counsel a variety of individuals in need including adults, high school and very young boarding school students. She is passionate about working on adolescent mental health issues and also worked with an early stage mental health startup. Some of her past research focussed on drug addicts, geriatrics and adolescents. Besides working as a research assistant in the ASPIRE lab, she is planning to pursue her PhD in Psychology as well as becoming a clinically inclined researcher.

Madison Gilbertson

Madison Gilbertson graduated from Stanford in 2011 and now works with students at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is interested in how psychological research can be applied in real-world environments. Her work with graduate students and volunteer work with high school students has also inspired an interest in thriving and positive youth development.

Daniya Kamran

Daniya Kamran is a social scientist and enjoys designing interventional programs and products around science, technology, health and education. She is a co-founder of Eurekatory, an engine for disrupting and accelerating higher education and innovation as well as preparing STEM talent to accelerate real change in the world. Daniya was highlighted as one of 25 “Emerging Leaders” in the Midwest by TEDxMidwest 2013.
Daniya currently works as a business interventions consultant in the San Francisco Bay area, while continuing research and writing on social and psychological phenomenon in the world.
