the history of American education and in part the history
of American culture.”
—Richard L. Venezky

Libraries in Second Life

Learn about the Libraries in Second Life during the Library Open House, on October 2, from 2pm - 6pm. The "Stanford Libraries in Second Life" demo will be at 2:30pm.

The Stanford Libraries' Second Life island includes a virtual library. Second Life (SL) is a virtual world run by Linden Lab, based in San Francisco. Populated by avatars, SL is more than simply a game or a virtual representation of real life (RL). There are currently over 8.3 million avatars in SL, of which approximately 1.8 million are active users.

Come to the Library Open House on October 2, from 2:00pm - 6:00pm and join University Librarian, Michael Keller, for a special tour of Green Library at 3:00pm.

If you missed the Green Library tours we gave during New Student Orientation week, this is your chance to learn about our great resources and find out where all the best study spaces are.
