Tuesday, October 19, 2010 will mark the 20th anniversary of The Sexual Politics of Meat! In honor of this event, Author Carol Adams will be giving a lecture and slideshow at Stanford University. She will be exploring the relationship between patriarchal values and meat eating.

The Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education will featuring a lecture from Karen Armstrong tomorrow evening. Her lecture, Training the Mind for Compassion: How the World Religions did it, is a part of their Meng-Wu lecture series. In it, Armstrong will explain how compassion lies at the heart of all religions. She will then explore the importance of compassion in our globalized world. As the founder of the Charter for Compassion, Armstrong has also authored many books on religion.

Samdhong Rinpoche, Prime Minister of Tibetan Government in Exile, Clayborne Carson, Director of Martin Luther King, Jr., Institude, and Rebiya Kadeer, Leader of the Uyghur Freedom Movement in Exile, are scheduled to hold a Panel on Nonviolence & Freedom Struggles this Friday, May 28, 2010. They will discuss the past and present freedom struggles of the Tibetans, African Americans and the Muslim Uyghur people in Western China.
