Professor of Psychology

Claude Steele is a Professor of Psychology and Past-Chair of the Psychology Department. His work focuses on social psychology, investigating such areas as racial and sexual stereotyping. He has worked on numerous studies, producing such journal articles and chapters as “How Self-Esteem Influences the Assessment of Our Abilities,” “Young Gifted and Black: Promoting High Achievement among African-American Students,” and “The Role of Standardized Testing in Race-Sensitive Admissions.”
