Which machines are in the pool now?

You can get the list of servers participating in a given load-balanced pool with:

   dig +short -t txt <pool>.best.stanford.edu @lbdns1.stanford.edu

E.g.

[chekh@luckdragon.stanford.edu] ~ [0]
$ date; dig +short -t txt corn.best.stanford.edu @lbdns1.stanford.edu

You can do the same with 'cardinal', but not with 'barley', since you can't log in to barley directly.

current issues

  • CS110 has some code that isn't compatible with the OpenSSL version in Ubuntu 11.10, so they need to use the Ubuntu 11.04 machines.
  • A few machines are having trouble connecting to particular AFS servers, some bug in OpenAFS 1.4.x, we've taken those machines out of the load balancer.
  • Genetics 211 course "Genomics" need bioperl 1.6.901, so they are using the Ubuntu 11.10 machines, primary contact is Christopher.Lane@stanford.edu
