Major Research Projects:

The Designing Education Lab's research projects can be divided into three main categories: work with the Academic Pathways Study (APS), work with the Engineering Pathways Study (EPS) and our work as part of the Epicenter team. The Academic Pathways Study investigated why students choose to stay in or leave engineering programs. EPS investigated the career paths of recent engineering graduates. And finally, our work with Epicenter investigates what role entrepreneurship can play in engineering education.

NSF Funded Projects

The Stanford Designing Education Lab is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded laboratory aimed at conducting research to improve engineering education at the undergraduate level. Currently holding over $1,000,000 in NSF funding, we work on projects to investigate the undergraduate engineering experience, how recent graduates transition into the workforce, how entrepreneurship can play a role in engineering education, and more. Our ultimate goal is to help create engineers prepared to tackle our world’s increasingly complex problems. As part of our mission, Stanford DEL wants to share what we have learned to better improve engineering education everywhere.
