Stanford Anthropology Alumnus wins Gregory Bateson Book Prize

Stanford Anthropology MA and PhD alumnus Stefan Helmreich was recently awarded the Gregory Bateson Prize for his book, Alien Ocean: Anthropological Voyages in Microbial Seas, published by the University of California Press, 2009. Also recognized in the Honorable Mentions category were Stanford Anthropology alumni were Philippe Bourgois for his book Righteous Dopefiend (University of California Press 2009), Karen Ho for her book Liquidated: An Ethnography of Wall Street (Duke University Press, 2009), and Diane Nelson for her book Reckoning: The Ends of War in Guatemala (Duke University Press, 2009).
