Saree Kayne is a PhD candidate in social anthropology whose research focuses on the International Olympic Committee and the culture of that organization. Specifically, she is interested in thinking about how the Committee's elite status effects the unfolding of the Olympic Games and its claims as a values-based organization. She is interested too in how the ideological promise and aspirations of the Games as a universal humanist project exists in direct tension with the realities inherent in producing the largest sporting spectacle in, arguably, the world. Saree recieved her BA with honors from the University of Chicago. When not studying, Saree can often be found on horseback.
