opera and film class

Dear James,

I will mention this during our discussion today, but wanted to post some links for you. Doris Dorrie (umlaut on the o) is a German filmmaker who has been staging operas over the past 8 years or so. I saw her Cosi fan tutte in Berlin and it was great.

 The performance is on dvd:

There is also dvd of her staging of Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera:

She's staging Handel's Admeto, re di Tessaglia at Edinburgh at the end of August too:

Her stagings are really interesting I think, and seem to be successful transformations across cultural lines....

best, Jenny
