I was born in Nanjing, China, attended Nanjing Foreign Language School (NFLS) there for junior and high school, and graduated from Tsinghua University in Beijing with B.S. in Electronic Engineering. My undergraduate research was with the university's Image Engineering Lab, Institute of Image and Graphics, supervised by Professor Yu Jin Zhang. I received the MSEE degree from Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. I then stayed for the Ph.D. program in the Image,Video and Multimedia Systems (IVMS) group, headed by Professor Bernd Girod. My research topic during the Master's program was on wavelet compression of light fields . My doctoral dissertation research focused on video streaming over ad-hoc wireless networks. A brief description of my Ph.D. thesis can be found here. As part of the Stanford Graduate Fellowship program, my graduate study is sponsored by National Semiconductor Corporation. I am also a member of the IEEE Communications Society and the IEEE Signal Processing Society. I am now a member of the Advanced Architecutre & Research Group at Cisco Systems, Inc. My current research interests include distributed resource management for multimedia networks, cloud-based media streaming, and wireless video streaming. |
