My name is Yiannis Yiakoumis. Official papers mention my first name as Ioannis, but nobody else uses it. Since September 2007, i am with the Department of Electrical Engineering of Stanford University, as a graduate student. I am working with Professor Nick McKeown as a member of the High Performance Networking Group.
Before that, i was - initially - born in 1982, in Thessaloniki, Greece. 18 years later (2000) I graduated from Arsakeio College of Thessaloniki and entered the ECE department of Patras University, where I spent 6 wonderful years as a student and research assistant. In 2006, i pursued my diploma conducting my thesis on wireless networks under the guidance of Prof. G.Papadopoulos. After completing my studies, i kept working in the university as a research/teaching assistant. Later on, I moved to the Netherlands for an internship within Philips Research Europe. I worked at the Information Processing Architectures Group - Networked Services Cluster dealing with issues concerning multimedia streaming over wireless networks. From January to July 2007 I served my obligatory duty in Cypriot National Guard. During that period i was one of the systems administrators of the National Guard IT Department.
You can find more details regarding research, publications and similar stuff in the relative sections.
I organize the Stanford Networking Seminar and actively involved with the Hellenic Association at Stanford.
Things that I enjoy most include travelling, being with friends and family, and listen-playing music.
