Bill Schlotter

I am currently living in Germany and working as a Postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Wilfried Wurth’s group through the University of Hamburg.  My research employes ultrafast pulses of ultraviolet and soft x-ray light to investigate the dynamics of non-equilibrium solids.   These pulses of light are produced at the FLASH facility at DESY in Hamburg, Germany.

In June, 2007 I graduated from the Applied Physics Department at Stanford University.   With my thesis advisor Jo Stohr, I developed a lensless holographic technique for taking microscope images with coherent x-rays.  These experiments require ultra  intense x-ray sources like the  Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and BESSY in Berlin, Germany.   Before coming to Stanford I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and held summer research positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Ford Motor Company.
