Dunlin is no stranger to me since my early birding days in Taiwan. It is the most common shorebirds there. It was truly a joy to see them again in this little Palo Alto pond, eight thousand miles away from where I encountered them the first time. They were obviously tired and were without too much activity going on. This group composed of about 25 individuals, all perched on one leg with their head facing the wind. This one can't help but opened his eyes checking me out.
