Seeing the Avocets in their summer plumage was a treat for me. They have this rich tea-colored face and neck. They are still common visitors along the West coast and actually breed in the Bay area marshland. However, they are more active in summer with additional breeding activities. I was taking pictures of the one at the bottom in the picture when the other one flew in from nowhere. I managed to shoot 3 frames of its aerial display before it flew away. There is always some surprise when you are in the field. In this case, it was a wonderful surprise.
