Jane QianYing Wang is a Ph.D. Candidate in Communication Department, Stanford  University, with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction. As a member of the Communication between Human and Interactive Media (CHIMe) lab, headed by Professor Clifford Nass, Jane studied social responses to computing technology. Her research interests include Social and Psychological Aspects of Collaborative Environment, Ubiquitous Computing, Digital Ownership (what is the meaning of being personal for digital content), Social Impact of Hardware Design for Input Device, etc. Additionally, she is conducting research with Andreas Paepcke on Digital Picture Management and Retrieval, Novel Input Interface for handheld devices, etc.

Jane earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (with honors) degrees in the Electrical Engineering Department of Shanghai JiaoTong University. After received her MS degree, she worked as a Staff Research Member for Human-Computer Interaction Group, led by Dr. Su Hui, of IBM China Research Lab in Beijing for four years (see her picture in IBM Annual Report). She had worked on Chinese handwriting recognition, speech interface and multi-modal interface. She has two IBM research achievement awards for her contribution to the technology and product development for Internet Solution Set and Chinese Workpad.
