About Me

   My Interests

  • Research: I am interested in the general areas of Fluid Dynamics and Thermal Sciences and Nanotechnology with emphasis on the use of numerical methods for solutions of problems in these fields. I have also worked on "Coupling of atomic and continuum length scales: Multiscale Modeling" using FEM techniques. More recently I have been taking a closer look at Fuel Cells for some advanced research. Prof. Pitsch is my advisor.
Right now I am focussing on PEM Fuel Cells.

Performance of PEM fuel cells is limited by the electrochemical reactions (ECR) catalyzed by nm size metal particles at the electrodes. A better understanding of the electrochemistry and chemical kinetics at the electrodes is important for improved modeling and design of next generation fuel cells. Environment-averaged approach of mean-field approximations widely in use until recently has fundamental limitations as it cannot accommodate important factors like structure gap, surface species interactions and dissociative adsorption of species. To circumvent these shortcomings we aim to simulate ECR in the cathode of PEM fuel cells using Monte Carlo (MC) methods. Our focus is on the cathode side of PEMFCs where the important water-formation reaction takes place making it both challenging and interesting to study. Specifically, a set of ECR approximately describing the PEMFC cathode electrochemistry will be simulated using dyanamic monte carlo techniques to determine the rate limiting reaction steps.

  • Collection: I am an ardent collector of coins, postal stamps, caps and books.
  • Friends: My favorite time pass is in the company of my school-days friends: Kartick, Imtiaz, Vijendra, Soumen, Prashant, Mamta, Amit and Priya. My college friends included all my wingmates, department mates and many others. Here at Stanford I have made some nice friends too: Venkatesh, Neelabh, Sarat, Suvrat, Aneesh, Shravan, Ankur,Anup Sandipan, Abhinand, Vishav, Vipin, Chetan,Senthil,Sriram ,Badri ,Pankaj....and the list is growing fast!!
  • People: I talk to as many people I can and try to know more about them. I am committed to good interpersonal relationships and really enjoy them. Children are a passion for me.....I really love them very much. And of course! I do reach out to people in need and help them with whatever I can.
