Properly Disposing of Hazardous Wastes at the School of Earth Sciences


All researchers share the responsibility for properly handling, storing and disposing of hazardous materials used in their experiments and utilizing good management practices as part of their daily lab operations.

IDENTIFICATION - How to identify waste, role of waste generator to use the waste hierarchy, and reference table correlating hazard categories and Department of Transportation (DOT) designations.

LABELING - How to properly fill out a waste tag and other labeling requirements.

MANAGING WASTES- includes properly storing waste and knowing how to arrange for disposal through the University's hazardous waste program.


INSPECTION PREPARTATION

  • Record corrections on your quarterly lab and shop inspection form.
