General Workplace Self-Inspections
To fulfill requirements contained in the California Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), each department or division in the School of Medicine is required to self-inspect work areas, document the results, make necessary corrections, and maintain records for completing the process.
- General Safety & Emergency Preparedness Training module ALL faculty, staff and students are required to complete the General Safety & Emergency Preparedness course available in STARS. The module also includes information on fire safety, earthquake safety, ergonomics, and electrical safety.
- General Workplace Self-Inspections is conducted in ALL work areas at least ONCE PER YEAR to evaluate fire and electrical safety, office ergonomics and general safety hazards in the workplace. A self-inspection is a walk-through of your areas by you or someone in your department with the objective of identifying any unsafe conditions.
- General Workplace Inspection Checklist is completed by personnel for their work area(s) and a copy is maintained by the department. Each department or division in the School of Earth Sciences is required to self-inspect work areas using this form, document the results, make necessary corrections, and maintain records for completing the process.
