Spoken language is rich and variable. The task of understanding spoken language is demanding, complicated more by variance introduced by different speakers, dialects, and language backgrounds. My current research projects examine the effect of this phonetic variation on perception and representation, the activation of sublexical information during spoken word processing, and the learning and generalization of new contrastive cues.
