Sam is a PhD candidate at the Electrical Engineering Department of Stanford University. His research interests include mobile augmented reality systems and mobile image retrieval. He currently works with the Image, Video and Multimedia Systems group lead by Prof. Bernd Girod.
Sam completed his M.S. degree in Electronics Engineering at the Institute of Electronics, National Chiao Tung University. In his graduate studies, he worked with Prof. Hsueh-Ming Hang in the area of error resilient video coders and scalable video coding algorithms. He earned his BS degree in Electronics Engineering at National Chiao Tung University, in 2001.
Prior to studying at Stanford, Sam worked for four years in Realtek Semiconductor Corp. There, he participated in the SoC Media Codec Project from the initiation of the project to the mass production stage. He coordinated the model development team and later the video decoder team.
