It was so cute to see him up on the stage. I remember how difficult it was when he started there; in the beginning, he wouldn't let the person that dropped him off actually leave him there. At the end, it all tears and crying when it was time to go home.

I can't believe that he is going to be starting kindergarten, and going to the same school that Thomas goes to. They really grow up so quickly ... we're down to one preschooler (unless Buffy goes; then it'll be two) and it feels really weird. Unfortunately, Kara had to miss the ceremony, as she stayed home with a sick Oliver. I took a bunch of video, though, and some day, I might actually edit it into something watch-able. :-)

Once again, many days have passed without any new posts to the blog. Not that we haven't been busy! In no particular order ...

I had my thirty-second birthday. So I'm now 32. Whew. Actually, its really nice to have birthdays, because I get lots of cool stuff (like a new iPod to replace the one I dropped), and my wife is super-extra-nice to me (like steak and eggs for breakfast).

The four hours of television that Kara and I watch has now been reduced to three. The series finale of Angel aired last night. This doesn't really have anything to do with us except that I'm crushed. Well, I guess The WB can now use that extra hour to air more of the same kind of crap they play the rest of the week. Now we're down to Enterprise, Tru Calling, and 24 (and Jack Bauer has to be getting tired!)

The family went on a lovely mini-vacation to the L.A. area, staying at Sue and Jeff's home, where we were all very well taken care of. (Bacon every morning; nothing wrong with that!) We took the kids (along with Shelly and Kyle and their collection) to Medieval Times, and they had a great time! Thomas had perma-grin for the duration of the show, while Nathan asked if the meal comes with a toy. (Guess he's been getting too many Happy Meals lately!) Ollie stayed home with grandma, where I'm sure he had a great time too! He also went into a swimming pool for the first time. I've got lots of cute video (and even more boring video) that I'll chop up into an iMovie someday.

Well, that's all I've got for now. Isn't that enough?

Well, another fairly uneventful few weeks. A few hilites, though:

• I got my car back from the shop (a week early!) and now just have to wait and see if I can get the $500 deductible and $200 car rental reimbursed from the at-fault guy's insurance company.

• Thomas earned his yellow belt in kung-fu! We're really proud of him; he takes it seriously, and really has the moves down. We didn't take any still pictures, but I video'd his taking of the test, and hopefully some day, I'll get to edit it and post some of the highlights. (Don't hold your breath, though!)

• Oliver walks! He may look like a drunk zombie, but he sure is cute stumbling around the house. Unfortunately, his usual method of stopping is to smack his head into whatever hard object is nearest, but I'm sure that any brain damage won't be permanent.

That's all I've got for now ... hopefully, we'll have something exciting coming up soon!

Not that the last week has been uneventful; on the contrary, being in a car accident (which I smartly refer to as a "Sentra Sandwich", as all three cars involved were Nissan Sentras, but I digress) is news, but I'm ok, and it wasn't my fault, and aside from that, there didn't seem to be anything to write about, nor any new pictures of the darling brats to post.

So, to convince myself that I haven't lost interest in this blog (I haven't), I thought I'd post this.

Three weeks, 1700 paving stones, three cubic yards of sand, two rentals of big, heavy and scary machines, and we finally finished the patio. Its not perfect (ok, that's an understatement) but we did it ourselves, and we're pretty far from perfect, too.

We still have to replace some sod, plant some growing things, and pray for something to bring the rest of our lawn back to life, but I don't even want to think about that now.

Well, it'll be two weeks tomorrow, and Giles is now up for adoption. You can see him on Golden State Greyhound Adoption's "available dogs" page, fifth dog down. (His racing name was "Force Speed", though GSGA seems to think it was just "Force"). They seem to have a lot of dogs available ... I hope he finds some really nice people to live with.

They say about him, " This ex-racer is already house trained and ready for his new home. He is a great hound but not good with cats but as you can see he is great with other dogs. Even those who want to eat him. He will be fun and will want to be with you all the time." Kara is a bit concerned that it doesn't say anything about being "kid-friendly", but I assume that Stu will screen potential adopters better then he did us. :-(

If whomever adopts him somehow finds this website, I'd really love to hear from them, and I'd be happy to tell them about my ex-Giles. I doubt they'll ever find this page, but for Google's sake, "Force Speed ... Ear mark 80A 91052 ... Sire Its Aclevercatch ... Dam Strategic Leader." Hmmm, my first attempt at Google bombing. Doubt it'll work.

Anyway, here's the pic they have of him on the GSGA site. Good luck, big boy ... I still miss you.
