Freer Happier
By Sahand Rabbani
Freer, happier, more productive,
Comfortable,
Not bullshitting too much.
No I-hum or 90-minute sections
(two days a week),
Avoiding gasbag I-hum kids
At ease.
Thinking well
(no more half-baked forced comments).
No long books or obscure irrelevant themes.
No made-up words
Or arrogant conceits.
No interpolating aesthetics or magic surrealism.
No pointless, incomprehensible lectures.
Forty thousand dollars to better use.
On Fridays, no more afternoon discussions.
No longer afraid of grade uncertainty and papers.
Arbitrary marks.
Nothing so ridiculously bullshat.
Nothing so inane:
Reasonable and thoughtful.
Now developing own ideas
(not mass-fed prepackaged propaganda)
An empowered and informed member of academia.
Will not fill mind with pointless garbage.
Less chance of seizure.
A good memory of freshman year.
Classes that count.
Classes that matter.
No longer desperate to vomit banal comments, for a grade:
Speak too much push luck, get driven into inconsistent shit.
(the ability to think for oneself),
More flexible,
Freer,
Mentally healthier and more productive.
A robot in a cage, force-fed wisdom.
