In Search of the Hidden Treasure

I picked up this gem of a book from the Stanford Bookstore at a clearance sale. It's written by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan and is about Sufi philosophy.

Here's a stunning example:
--- Quoting from Page 11
The gathering can hear the Sufi dervishes at the Mosque in Mecca repeating a hadith (statement) of the Prophet:

"Man 'arafa nafsahu faqad 'arafu rabbahu"

Whosoever knows himself knows his Lord

--- End Quote

I can't help thinking about the core essence of Vedanta being captured by this hadith.

My thoughts exactly. In fact I used this in my book "What if God Were One of Us." It exemplifies Vendatic thoguht in Islamic culture.
