Prof. Ron Howard
I've had the good fortune to take Decision Analysis twice, once as a student and then as a TA. I've also taken Voluntary Social Systems and The Ethical Analyst.
All I can say is - these are mindblowing classes. Prof. Howard engages in a socratic dialogue, helping students go deep into their beliefs and learning to think clearly. Prof. Howard has truly stretched my mind in so many ways.
With Thomas, Ibrahim, Prof. Howard and Aditi. Zhan and Jonathan are not in the pic. We had an absolute blast TAing this class. Prof. Howard believes that one cannot be the coach and the judge at the same time. So he acts as the coach in class while we act as judges, setting the papers and testing students (in addition to holding problem sessions).
I've always believed that the best way to learn a subject better is by teaching it. I am glad I signed up for this.
We also had an exhibition of creativity at the end - we gave students pipe cleaners to fiddle with during the problem sessions. This is something I learned from my mentor and teacher extraordinaire, Joshua Kerievsky.
The hand was made by Anthony Fai.
The TAs. It's been sooo much fun working together.
