The Corridoor
Stanford has gorgeous corridoors in the Main Quadrangle (quad).

As you go down this corridoor and turn right, a most unexpected sight - palm trees!

Go beyond the palms and you enter the quadrangle. The quadrangle reminds me of the Zen Rock Garden at Ryoanji.

The palms (and other trees) form little islands in this metaphorical sea.
Under one tree island, three people practice Tai-chi.

Turning left, we face the magnificent Memorial Church, erected by Jane Stanford, the wife of Leland Stanford, the founder of Stanford University. I've been inside, to chant the sloka, "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinaha.." for an interfaith meeting once, on the occasion of Bahaullah's visit anniversary to Stanford in 1911.
