Here are some of the activities I enjoy doing.

International Travel

My favorite hobby is traveling around the world.  I spent the last three summers abroad all over Asia, Europe, and South America and had such an amazing time.  Now I am addicted to it and have plans to travel to a lot of new, exciting places.  Currently I have been to approximately 30.  Whenever I can, I like to travel somewhere and am often fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go.  There are a number of pictures of my travels in the photo gallery.

Outdoor Recreation

I love doing just about anything outdoors in nature.  My favorite activities on land are hiking, camping, caving, and mountain biking.  I also like geocaching where you look for hidden items using a GPS receiver.  I also really enjoy water sports like kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving.  Of course, I often combine these activities with traveling for some awesome adventures.

Solar Jackets

Throughout my entire undergraduate career, I was a member of the student team the Solar Jackets, which builds solar cars for the American Solar Challenge.  I have gained a lot of hands-on experience with electronic design and implementation, machines, teamwork, project planning, budgets, and strategy development.  As a freshman, my job was primarily to construct the car using the mill, lathe, and power tools.  Then, I became the head of the electrical team and was in charge of design, construction, and testing of the Li-Ion battery pack, solar array, maximum power point trackers, motor, controller, and telemetry system.

Math Competitions

Since middle school, I have been competing in math competitions and having a lot of fun at them.  Every year in high school, I attended approximately a dozen math competitions on the local, state, and national level through Mu Alpha Theta (high school math honor society).  Throughout high school, I earned over 60 trophies including 9th overall at the 2001 national convention.  My senior year in high school, I was president of my school's Mu Alpha Theta chapter and was in charge of hosting three competitions including a statewide competition with 1,300 students.   Currently, I continue to help with interschool tests that anyone can work on, which has helped my high school earn several state and national championships.  I also am on the steering committee for the 2006 Mu Alpha Theta National Convention.

While an undergrad at Georgia Tech, I participated in the William Lowell Putnam Math CompetitionTime magazine said the annual math examination is 'the world's hardest math test' since the median score is traditionally 0 points.  During my three years as an undergrad, I placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at Georgia Tech and in the top 500 in the nation all three years.

Racquetball

I have been playing racquetball for several years.  Unfortunately, Stanford has no racquetball courts on campus so I don't get to play very often.
