Camel thorn acacia
Acacia erioloba
There was a camel thorn acacia over-hanging my tent. The top of the
tent was covered with these curved pods.
Elephant next to my bed
During both of my last two nights in lion camp, a sizeable herd of
elephants came into
camp. They were literally inches from where I was lying down - on the
other side of the tent canvas. Despite their massive size, I did
not hear them approach. The first
thing I noticed was a quiet
scraping on the top of the tent. Apparently. the larger elephants were
gather the pods with a sweeping motion of their trunks.
Elephant footprints everywhere
In the morning, most of the ground was covered with elephant
tracks.
