IIT Kharagpur – B.Tech. Thesis Project (January 2006 to May 2006)
Project Title: Sampled Analog Architecture for 1-D DCT using Switched Current Circuits
Supervisor: Prof. Anindya Sundar Dhar, Dept. of E & ECE., IIT Kharagpur
Details: The work involved the study of a new 1-D DCT architecture using switched currents principle. The input sampled current stream is applied to a bank of current mirrors to generate proper co-efficients. These currents are then switched concurrently with the help of a switching matrix, into Class AB Switched Current Integrators performing necessary addition / subtraction. Proposed architecture is regular, flexible and can be used as building block for real-time image and video compression, with the same accuracy as its digital counterpart and it most importantly does way with the requirement of linear capacitors and high speed high gain operational amplifiers.
IIT Kharagpur – B.Tech. Thesis Project (January 2005 to October 2005)
Project Title: Ultra Wideband Sgnal Generation and Applications
Details: The work involved the design and implementation of waveform generators to generate pulses for use in Ultra Wideband Impulse Radio. The approach used LC passive networks which are self terminated as in Radar type pulsers. Examples of waveforms presented included sinusoids of duration 1 ns and a template resembling the second derivative of a Gaussian Pulse (The Gaussian Doublet) and a triangular wave.
Microsoft Research, Redmond – Summer Internship (May 2005 to July 2005)
Project Title: MSR Sense: Spreadsheet Based Programming & Managing of Sensor Networks
Supervisors: Feng Zhao & Alec Woo, Networked Embedded Computing, MSR, Redmond
Details: A spreadsheet approach to simplifying the process of managing sensor networks and addressing the in-situ nature of sensor-net programming was presented. An Excel spreadsheet prototype was built to demonstrate the idea. This spreadsheet environment provided users, who are already familiar with spreadsheet applications, a convenient and powerful tool for programming and data analysis. Two different classes of sensor-net applications built using this platform were demonstrated.
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore – Summer Internship (May 2004 to July 2004)
Project Title: Performance Analysis of 802.11 mixed b/g networks
Supervisors: Prof. Pavan S. Nuggehalli & Mr. T. V. Prabhakar, Centre for Electronics Design & Technology, IISc
Published: Siddharth Seth, Alec Woo, Tim Olson, Jie Liu and Feng Zhao, A Spreadsheet Toolkit for Streaming Sensor Data
Proceedings of the 3rd ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (Sensys) 2005, Page: 313
Abstract: We demonstrate an Excel interface that enables novice users to
access and process networked sensor data in real time as well as to
retrieve archived data for analysis and visualization. The spreadsheet
provides application users an intuitive and familiar interface
for sensor network programming and user-interaction.

Managing Sensor Networks
Proceedings of the IEEE & ACM Fifth International Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN) 2006, Page: 424-431
Abstract: We present a spreadsheet approach to simplifying
the process of managing sensor networks and addressing the
in-situ nature of sensor-net programming. An Excel spreadsheet
prototype has been built to demonstrate the idea. This
spreadsheet environment provides users, who are already familiar
with spreadsheet applications, a convenient and powerful tool for
programming and data analysis. We discuss the architecture of
this prototype and our experience in implementing the tool. We
show two different classes of sensor-net applications built using
this platform. We also present performance data on the scalability
of the tool with respect to data rate and number of streams.
