After working in the area of Combinatorial Optimization in the ealry 1970's, Dr. Savage did an about face, and entered the field of Combinatorial Obfuscation. Inspired by the tessellation patterns of M.C. Escher, he developed the SHMUZZLE(tm) Puzzle in 1979. Although popular, the puzzle required such high accuracy to produce, that it was not economically viable, and production stopped in 1983.
