Storm
Watch
You
warm as I wrap around your body tonight,
with
the world and its broken glass outside.
Between
us we can build our own light.
Beyond
our walls the thunder reverberates,
rattling
the windows gravely overhead.
The
abundant droning rain, a sound so desolate,
makes
me think we’ll need to leave our bed,
huddle
our blankets about us. With flashlights
we’d
brave floodwaters in search of a hillside.
Instead,
my body trembles to hold you tighter.
