At Stanford University, I work in the School of Education as David Jacks Professor of Education and the Learning Sciences, where I have founded and currently direct the Ph.D. program in Learning Sciences and Technology Design (LSTD).

I serve as Director of the H-STAR Institute (Human Sciences and Technologies Advanced Research), an independent laboratory at the University. My research activities include co-PI leadership of the LIFE Center (Learning in Informal and Formal Environments, examining how informal and formal learning can be better understood and connected, developing the DIVER paradigm for everyday networked video interactions for learning and communications and research and development to support mobile science inquiry in the ecological sciences with the LETS GO Project with Prof. Marcelo Milrad of Linnaeus University in Sweden.
